Sony and Oprah Eye 2010 Launch For Nate Berkus Show
Following success of Dr. Oz, companies teaming up for second syndicated project
Sony Pictures Television and Oprah Winfrey’s Harpo Productions are finalizing plans for a new syndicated daytime show featuring interior designer and Oprah Winfrey Show-regular Nate Berkus, according to sources with knowledge of the dealings. The new project should be ready for a fall 2010 rollout.
SPT is also behind Harpo’s rookie syndicated show Dr. Oz, another show built around an Oprah personality – a calling card that has been as good as any for talk show success in syndication in recent years.
Dr. Oz has been a strong player for the two companies with the best first-run talk show debut in seven years, including time period growth of 50%, 29% lead-in growth and ratings that are up 17% from its premiere. The show averaged a 3.0 rating last week.
Oz marked the first show that SPT and Harpo have done together, after Harpo had launched previous Oprah personality shows such as Dr. Phil and Rachael Ray through CBS Television Distribution, which currently distributes Winfrey’s broadcast syndication talker.
A second consecutive Harpo show for SPT is not only a coup for the company, but will increase speculation that if Winfrey does continue her daily talk show past 2011 and doesn’t move it to her proposed OWN cable network, it will end up being distributed by Sony instead of CBS.
Berkus has been a featured design expert for The Oprah Winfrey Show since he first appeared in 2001, and also hosts his own show on Winfrey’s satellite radio channel. He also hosted Winfrey’s 2008 ABC reality series, Oprah’s Big Give.

Stephen Fry Hints He Is Planning To Leave Britain

The 52-year-old said he is considering following in the footsteps of his literary hero P.G. Wodehouse by pledging his allegiance to the Stars and Stripes.
Fry, who recently filmed a new series of the BBC show QI, said he would be ' honoured' to take U.S. citizenship 'if they'll have me'.
At an awards ceremony in Los Angeles, Fry said he was searching for a home in the city to be near his friend and former comedy partner Hugh Laurie and had been encouraged by talking to Craig Ferguson, the Scots comedian who has become an American chat show host.
Fry said: 'I'm looking for a place in LA. I do love America. I had an apartment in New York for many years and have just sold that so I do want somewhere in America and I think now, having loved the East Coast as I do, I might just make it the West Coast.
'I'd be happy to be here. I love the weather. I have a mild form of bipolar disease. One of the things that really helps my moods is the sunshine.
'And of course I'd be close to my darling Hugh and his darling wife and his darling children.'

| How can I make a better version of this dress? |
[17 Nov 2009|01:41pm] |
I just made this dress, my first real tshirt surgery (I don't think adjusting oversize shirts to be smaller really counts):
More photos and instructions on my livejournal.
My question is: how I can I do this again only better? I have a big bag of very large mens shirts to experiment with.
I was thinking a waistband and some gathering on the skirt would help, kind of like this dress only without the halterneck, or this skirt.
The seam where I sewed past the arm holes on the skirt looks crap, anyone have suggestion for how to do it better so it still fits past my giant hips? The only option I can think of is sewing a straight diagonal to make an A-line skirt and pulling it up until it fits looser so I can add some gathering. Or I could use two shirts per skirt, making it very flowy.
Other suggestions for very oversize shirts (some of which are button up) appreciated. Obviously I could just use the tutorials for slightly-too-big shirts and throw away more material but that seems a waste.
I've been going through the posts on this community, it's very inspiring!

| Jennifer Morrison finds her character's exit from House "confusing" |
[17 Nov 2009|12:15am] |
It’s fitting that Jennifer Morrison’s first comments concerning her departure from House would come on the same night that Cameron bid adieu to Princeton-Plainsboro.
Appearing at the Star Trek DVD launch party in Hollywood this evening, Morrison confessed to EW.com that even she was a little puzzled by her sudden exit. “I find the entire situation sort of confusing,” she said.
Although House execs David Shore and Katie Jacobs have said they are leaving the door open for Cameron to resurface at some point, Morrison said she had no news to share on the front. “I don’t know anything about anything,” she admitted. “That’s the thing. Everyone expects me to have an answer and there’s no answer to have because there’s… no answer.”
Morrison confirmed that she’s still being paid for the entire season and added that, emotionally speaking, she hasn’t “packed [Cameron] away” yet.
“I have always said I love our writers,” she added. “I think [series creator] David Shore is incredibly talented. All of the character he’s created I’ve loved. And I think are amazing. I think he’s very committed to keeping the character’s stories authentic.”
Asked whether she felt her own storyline felt authentic, Morrison said, “I’m not writing the show but I do think that [David] is an authentic writer.”
Morrison said she’s been comforted by the enormous outpouring of support from fans in the wake of her House dismissal. “I love the fans,” she enthused. “Honestly, I have to say one of the most amazing things that’s come out of this job is how incredible the fans have been and how supportive they’ve been. I never could have imagined asking for a more amazing group of people and I’m so thankful for their support.”
Once a class act, always a class act.

| lady lets chris brown know hes a woman beater! |
[17 Nov 2009|12:11am] |
Chris Brown was the target of a nasty verbal attack last night -- as one outspoken woman unleashed a profanity-laced assault right in the singer's face.
It all went down as the convicted felon posed with fans at Footaction in NY last night -- when out of nowhere one woman in the crowd got close to him and began shouting, "f**king beater" and "I hope someone beats the f**king crap out of you!"
Chris smiled and walked right past the screaming woman -- but Brown's devoted fans defended his honor by shouting, "Smack that bitch up."
FYI -- He didn't.

Robert Pattinson Named People Magazine “Sexiest Man Alive”
He couldn’t be more busy with the World-Wide premieres of New Moon but Robert Pattinson has just received another honor!
Robert has been named People Magazine’s Sexiest Man Alive. Of course, who has time to worry about such honors when you are in LA at the official New Moon premiere.
Not sure how much I agree with Rpatz being number one. I can think of several Hollywood hot men who are much more deserving to be this years “Sexiest Man Alive.”
Source because this hobo foot is sexier than the other 99 guys on the list? we're done professionally PEOPLE MAGAZINE! At least Capt. Fine is on the cover...
